PROFLYGHT PARAGLIDING |
Proflyght Paragliding is owned and operated by Advanced
Tandem Instructor Dexter Clearwater. All our instructors are certified by
the United States Hang Gliding Association. We are the oldest and only full
time Paragliding School in Hawaii. We are located on Maui simply because
it is the nicest place on Earth. This exciting introduction to paragliding allows you to
soar with a certified instructor and experience first hand the joy of paragliding.
After a brief introduction to the basics of Paragliding you'll be flying
quiet and free over Maui. |
Poli Poli Flight Park is managed
by Proflyght Paragliding.
This is the main paragliding site on Maui. It is flyable 330 days a year.
Located on the lee side of Mt. Haleakala, it is protected from the trade
winds. This unique geography allows an area of calm air to set up each morning.
As the sun rises from behind Mt. Haleakala it heats up the ground in the
calm air bubble. Rising air currents allow us to begin launching about two
hours after sun rise.
Ferns Launch
6,500 ft.
3,000 ft. decent to Landing Zone
Meeting time - 7:15 am(summer)
- 8:30 am(winter)
Time aloft: Approximately 15 minutes
Price: $175.00
The first flight of the day is usually
a sled ride in calm air. Perfect to start the day off and get into your
grove. The second flight you can expect to get some mild lift, approximately
100 to 300 fpm. Sadly, some days we are not able to take another flight
from ferns launch due to cloud development. On some flights you can expect
to get lift at 300 fpm to 600 fpm.
Echoes Launch

1,000 ft. to Landing Zone
Meeting time - 9:00 am(summer)
- 10:30 am(winter)
Time aloft: Approximately 5 minutes

Echoes is simply the top of our training
hill. With a thousand feet of grass, and numerous top landing potentials,
it is the prefect place to prefect your skills. The best thing about "Echoes"
is that the clouds usually form above launch. |
